Missing Mana

15th February 2021

We share with deep sadness the loss of Mana Hazlett, who died last week.

A Miscarriage Association volunteer since 1989, Mana offered telephone support and ran the Glasgow support group until only very recently.  Those of us who knew her, and those who were supported by her, will always remember her as a vibrant, seemingly unstoppable source of care, warmth and compassion.

Mana will have supported thousands of people over her years with the M.A., as well as others whose lives she enriched through her many friendships and other volunteering activities.  And she made us laugh too, with stories and anecdotes of all sorts, along with a twinkle in the eye.

Our thoughts go out to her son, family and friends.  We hope they will find some comfort in knowing how greatly she is loved and appreciated and how much she will be missed.

From the moment Mana answered the phone to me I knew I was going to be ok.  What started off as a voice at the other end of the phone supporting me through our losses led to her becoming such a special friend and mentor.   She was like no other, an amazing unique inspiring individual.  She has touched so many lifes and if it wasn’t for covid right now there wouldn’t be a church bigger enough to hold all that loved her.  Missing her already.  (Gillian)

I have known Mana for more than 20 years through the wonderful befriending service she offered with the Miscarriage Association supporting women and their partners. She will be greatly missed. (Cindy)

I will miss her cheery and positive messages very much. She was such a caring person and when we met she always had something for my grandsons, pencils, a colouring book, a wee minding as we say, always thoughtful and educational.  (Sheila)

Mana, such a very special lady. Had lovely letters from her that made me laugh. It was a pleasure to have known you. Will be thought of and missed a lot. Xx (Karen)
