Our little surprise
We were not expecting our little surprise,
But still you made my face light up with a smile,
Daddy was scared what the future would now bring,
Mummy reassured him it would be the best thing.
Our little surprise grew with each week,
Everybody’s smiles now up to their cheeks,
Then one day everything changed,
All I heard in my head was a giant shriek,
‘Your little surprise is gone’ they said,
Our future changed forever in one single night’s sleep.
To our little surprise sleeping with the angels,
Never forgotten but will always be painful,
Mummy and daddy will love you always,
Imagining you running through our hallways,
Sleep tight our little surprise,
Filling our hearts forever with pride.
