Here for you this festive season

21st December 2020

We know that facing the festive season can sometimes be a struggle for those who have been through pregnancy loss. At a time when children are often at the forefront of everyone’s minds, many of you will be thinking about your lost babies and what might have been.

You might already be thinking about ways to mark your babies’ brief lives at this time of the year.

Perhaps you will be lighting a special candle or candles, as people often do during Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Maybe you will have a special ornament or decoration, such as a bauble or star on a Christmas tree.

You might decide to add a light or lights to our online Lights of Love tree, which will also support the Miscarriage Association.

Whether or not you do something special, you may still find this a difficult time – perhaps especially now with severe restrictions to being with family and friends.  If you’d like to talk to someone who understands, you are very welcome to call our helpline or contact us on Live Chat during office hours:

Normal hours:  Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Holiday closures:  24, 25 and 28 December and 1 January.

Even when we are closed:

  • You can still post and read messages on our support forum. If you’re not already a member, join by 3 p.m. on 23 December to be able to access the forum over Christmas.
  • You can use our private Facebook groups  – one is general and one is for people who are pregnant after loss – at any time to share your thoughts and feelings with others.
  • You may like to join one of our online support group meetings that are taking place over the break.
  • You might find it helpful to read some of the stories and thoughts that others have shared.  Sometimes just knowing you’re not alone can really help you through.

Here’s hoping you have a peaceful festive season and a gentler year in 2021.

With warm wishes

All of us at the Miscarriage Association.
